![]() Don’t forget to UpdateMedia Lib when you’re done. There’s no back and forth action between device and computer. You know – I wouldn’t call this ‘synching’ so much as ‘pouring the music into the device’.Make sure on the MusicBee device settings that ‘delete tracks that are not on the auto-sync list from the device’ is UNCHECKED.On your FIIO – using the clickwheel – Select: System settings (over to the right) >UpdateMedia LibĪfter the first sync – I now only sync any new playlists or playlists I’ve newly created or made changes to.When the sync is finished: Unplug the device. As I said before – the first sync took HOURS.When it states: “synchronisation successfully completed” – right click the FIIO and ‘safely remove’ it – then unplug FIIO. In the lower left of your MusicBee window it’ll tell you the progress of the sync.On your computer – in MusicBee -Select: MusicBee (Top left)> File > Synchronise.Plug your FIIO into the computer with the USB cord.Note: When setting up your Fiio for the first time – look at the quickstart manual that came with the device: Insert the SD card and format it on the Fiio (look under settings).Right click on ‘XI’ and create a folder for each of the ones shown in Settings:.You should be able to see your FIIO listed under ‘Devices’ towards the bottom.Navigate to top left of MusicBee – click ‘View’ – and ‘View Left Sidebar’.I don’t know if there’s a better way – but this is what I ended up doing – and it worked for me. That’s right – it’s not a super smart machine – there’s tinkering involved.YOU NOW HAVE TO CREATE THESE FOLDERS SHOWN IN SETTINGS MANUALLY ON YOUR FIIO.On-the-fly conversion – no clue what this is – I left it alone without a tick in the box.You will see how the naming scheme will go under each type of file listed on the left. Then click ‘preserve folders and filenames’.Storage path should be where you’ve got your FIIO plugged in.I unclicked the ‘automatically synchronize’ tab…because the software will want to recopy EVERYTHING you’ve selected in your playlists.Podcasts, Audiobooks, Video – I’m not bothering with anything on these – my FIIO is music only.I made a Playlist for the FIIO called “All MP3 Songs” – and I selected that list along with any of the other ‘dumb’ playlists I wanted on the device. I have selected to only synchronize playlists – because of the problem of having so many duplicate songs in my music library. You’ll have the same 5 options – as well as ‘sync status’. Note – You can also access preferences for your device if you navigate to top left of MusicBee – click ‘View’ – and ‘View Left Sidebar’ – scroll down in the left hand window to where your device is listed.Left side shows 5 options among which are: Music, Podcasts, Audiobooks, Video, Settings.Click on the FIIO (in my case – it’s called ‘X1’) – and click ‘configure’.You should see your FIIO in the list of ‘known devices’.On the lower end of the left hand menu you’ll see ‘Devices’ – click this.I tried this, and personally notice little difference… but that could be due to the desktop machine I’m using. FIIO recommends you do this from the back of your PC (if you’ve got a choice) rather than the front. So much more difficult than it should be – not intuitive…and no understandable information that specifically deals with FIIO/MusicBee in an understandable manner. These ‘smart playlists’ will not transfer over to your FIIO – but you can drag the songs from your newly made smart playlist to a newly created ‘fixed’ dumb playlist as a workaround.MusicBee can definitely handle ‘dumb’ playlists, and it appears it now has the ability to concoct smart playlists. My solution was to create a big playlist with just the songs I wanted on the FIIO (in my case – this is everything but Christmas songs and duplicates) – and then telling MusicBee to only sync selected playlists. There does not appear to be a way to ‘tick’ the box to prevent the unwanted dups from syncing with the FIIO. ![]() OMG I found so many duplicate files when I imported my ITunes music to MusicBee.Before syncing with the FIIO the first time – you’ll need to import music from Itunes and clean up your files and/or tags on MusicBee ![]()
